Catch me if you can!

3/26/19. Milton, DE. Nugget on Q.

Warm Up. 20 SSH, 15 windmill, 15 cherry picker. Capri lap.

Catch me if you can… partner up, person A runs to bottom of hill while person B does 7 burpees then runs to bottom of hill. If person B catches person A before the bottom of the hill person A has to do 13 burpees. (we will rotate on way back to AO.)

March Merkin Madness. 10 tricep extensions. 20 rangers. 30 hand release merkins. 40 merkins for a total of 100 merkins, ouch!

Crawl bear up Milton hill and bear crawl down just for fun.

Catch me if you can back to AO. (switch positions, same format.)

3rd F talked about a post I saw on instagram from a Pastor who’s instagram name is dad.tired. title was ‘God is using your wife and kids to make you more like him.’

Ultimate football. when team in possession drops ball they have to do 1 burpee before resuming play. at the end of the game the winning team has to do X amount of ranger merkins while losing team does twice the amount but in regular merkins. MVP was the dynamic duo of Doubtfire and Fireplex. Great push HIM!

And We Were Swerkin’

Date: 3/23/19

QIC: Chappie

Another double-digit Saturday at the Aegis AO in Georgetown, DE. Hey, this is starting to look like a habit. Now, its time to start getting in some regular coffeeteria. YHC, along with Doubtfire and his 2.0 (FNG Fly Catcher) enjoyed some o’ that 2ndF following Saturday’s workout. Always well worth it!

11 PAX posted for what turned out to be a sunny Saturday at the Aegis–a rare sunny day, albeit rather breezy. It seems to rain more often than not at the Aegis, so we’ll take the sun any day. It went a little something like this:

DISCLAIMER

WARM-O-RAMA:

  • SSH – 18 IC
  • Moroccan Night Club’s – 18 IC
  • Italian Night Club’s – 18 IC
  • Cherry Picker, Crab Flipper, Hairy Chigger – 18 IC (CPCFHC’s)
  • Planks Jacks – 18 IC
  • Imperial Walker’s – 18 IC

THE THANG:

PAX led to YHC’s vehicle where each one received a paver & a frisbee (seriously, a frisbee).

Mosey to North Bedford Street Park carrying said coupons, holding paver OH every other block. Once arriving at the park, PAX placed pavers spread out along a line perpendicular to the swing set.

From the line of Pavers, PAX tossed their frisbee. Goal: Toss frisbee to distant picnic table in as few throws as possible (like in disc golf). Number of throws = the number of Swerkin Rounds per PAX. First 3 rounds = 25 Swerkins, subsequent rounds = 10 Swerkins (see video above for Swerkin demo). About half the PAX hit the picnic table in 3 throws (3 rounds), other half in 4 throws (4 rounds).

  • Frisbee Seal Crawl back to paver line.
  • Swerkin Round 1 – 25 Swerkins
  • Paver Drag to park bench, OH Press back to line.
  • Swerkin Round 225 Swerkins
  • *Frisbee Seal Crawl to picnic table was planned, but due to the number of broken frisbees from the first round YHC had to Omaha: Paver Drive to picnic table. *Apparently frisbees have a weight limit.
  • OH Lunge Press return to line.
  • Swerkin Round 325 Swerkins (those things carry some suck factor!)
  • Paver Drag to park bench, mosey return to line.
  • Subsequent Round – 10 Swerkins, while 3-Round PAX did a varied mosey around perimeter of field: Nur, Karaoke, mosey. Upon completion of Swerkins, other PAX caught up on perimeter mosey.

In midst of Swerkin rounds, PAX took a 3rd F breather. Because of sore throat and oncoming head-cold, YHC had to abbreviate his 3rdF. Here’s the full account of what was prepared/borrowed from the Q Source:

PAX stacked the pavers and frisbees for post-workout pick-up. Shout out thanks to Chattahoochee for the reload assistance!

Still time on the clock, so we circled up for a little introduction of Jack Webb (1/4 ratio).

Mosey return to AO

NUMBER-RAMA: 11 PAX, nice double-digits again! Let’s keep up the EH’ing; it’s that time of year when it’s a little easier to get new PAX to post. Hit ’em up men! Great push by all, especially Doubtfire’s 2.0 FNG!

NAME-O-RAMA: Welcome to Doubtfire’s 2.0, Harrison, now known as Fly Catcher. This young HIM is, in his own words, a “bird nerd.”

BOM:

  • Announcements
  • Prayers

Coffeeteria followed at Dunkin. Nor worries, we ate healthy and had some good fellowship between Doubtfire, Fly Catcher, and YHC.

Honored to Q it up at the Aegis!

Chappie, out!

The THANG
Our 2 EC Murph PAX were 25 Pull-ups, 50 Merkins, and 75 Squats shy of completing the full Murph, so YHC baked some Murph into the Main Event:

  • Run a lap, 1 Pull-up, 2 Merkins, 3 Squats

After reaching 100% completion for the Murph, the PAX performed a quick circuit of 20 Dips, 20 Derkins, and 20 Box Jumps/Step-ups.

The F3 name of the next exercise escapes YHC, but the PAX hopped forward on one leg for 3 hops, switched to the other leg for 3 hops, and repeato until reaching the end of the parking lot.

PAX held plank for 3 10-counts (1 per PAX) and then performed 10 Mountain Climbers IC.

The PAX then turned 90º and performed the alternating one-legged hops – 4 hops per leg – until reaching the end of the parking lot.

On their 6, PAX held feet 6″ off ground for 3 10-counts (1 per PAX) and then performed 10 Flutter Kicks IC.

The PAX then turned 90º and performed the alternating one-legged hops – 5 hops per leg – until reaching the end of the parking lot.

PAX held Low Squat Hold for 3 10-counts (1 per PAX) and then performed 10 Body Weight Squats IC.

The PAX then turned 90º once more and performed the alternating one-legged hops – 6 hops per leg – until reaching the end of the parking lot.

PAX held plank for 3 10-counts (1 per PAX) and then performed 10 Merkins IC.

MARY
Platinum Pinky led the PAX through 10 Crunchy Frogs IC.

Newton led the PAX through 20 LBCs OYO.

COT/BOM
As we went around the COT today, Newton (Respect!) and Platinum Pinky (Double Respect!) was given their due recognition and YHC was reminded just how respect-full the PAX was today!

YHC closed the workout with a quick prayer to give thanks for a nearly perfect day to workout and to be better men. YHC also prayed for the men at the workout and the men who missed the workout. And, finally, YHC prayed for F3 NATX – that our efforts would be blessed and that men would join us on our worthwhile mission.

Mountain Climber Ladder (1 – 10 – 1)

Crunchy Frog Ladder (1 – 10* – 1)
* At this point, the PAX were all feeling it in the hip flexor, so YHC called an audible and had the PAX flip over for Upward Dog. Slides pointed out that Upward Dog deserved its very own F3 Exercon name and offered up the name “Howl at the Moon” – a perfectly fitting name for what it looked like the PAX was doing! The PAX transitioned into Downward Dog and Slides offered up the name “Gateway Arch” – another perfectly fitting name to put in the Exercon!

Flutter Kick Ladder (1 – 10* – 1)
* Break for one more round of Howl at the Moon and Gateway Arches.

MARY
Merkin Ring of Fire (10 Merkins each… except for Newton, who might still be doing Merkins at The Big House!)

COT/BOM
It was incredibly exciting having 7 PAX at the workout today. Obviously, I enjoy any company I can get at our workouts and I certainly cherish the time I get with any and all PAX that show up. But, at a deeper level, today was special because we had men post at the workout who we haven’t seen in a while, we had men fighting through some pain (that I may or may not have inflicted), and we had men who continue to come out and crush the workout.

I was reminded (by, of all things, one of my F3 shirts) about how iron sharpens iron and I 100% believe this is what happens in this group. We start off by making each other better in terms of Fitness, but we soon start making each other better in terms of being a man and being a leader. I hope I was able to help sharpen each of the PAX today and I can personally attest to being sharpened each and every time I am around every single one of my F3 NATX brothers! Aye!

Won’t get fooled again.

3.23.2019

A couple weeks ago, Hershey Kiss had us all fooled into thinking we were doing the Murph.

Because everyone was so upset that we did a different workout (and because Memorial day is only 2 months away), it only felt appropriate to actually do the Murph.

NATX Challenge: April Headlocks Bring Friendly New Guys

NATX PAX, Welcome to Springtime!

The cold winter weather is behind us and the sweltering summer weather is not yet upon us… that means this is the perfect time to be recruiting FNGs to join our F3 NATX workouts!

The Challenge:

Right now, think of 5 friends/neighbors/co-workers/acquaintances–you will soon put these 5 people in an Emotional Headlock (EH) to join you at one of our F3 NATX workouts.

On April 1, you will post the names of your 5 friends on our NATX Slack channel: NATX-Challenge. This represents your commitment to Headlock your friends throughout the month of April (and beyond).

If you are able to successfully EH all 5 of your friends and bring them to an F3 NATX workout in the month of April, you will receive a brand new F3 Reflective Patch to put on your ruck (or wherever else you put your patches).

On the NATX-Challenge Slack channel, you will also post the name of 1 group or organization you would like to contact in order to spread the word about F3 NATX and recruit FNGs. This group or organization could be a business network, a church group, or anything else where 2 or more people gather.

The Goal:

The most obvious goal in the April NATX Challenge is that our F3 group would grow. This aligns perfectly with F3’s mission to plant, grow, and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership.

Right now, on average, we have anywhere from 4 – 6 PAX at our workouts. Imagine if we multiply those numbers by 5… workouts with 20 – 30 PAX adds another level of intensity to the 1st F and reaching those numbers would be an incredible milestone in our journey!

But, perhaps the most important reason to focus on the growth of our region is to share the mission and impact of F3 with as many men as possible in North Austin, TX. My hope is that F3 has been (and continues to be) a positive force in your life and that you would feel compelled to share this group with others.

Good luck with those headlocks, men! Can’t wait to meet our future FNGs!

Aye,
Golden Pinky
