12 strong 💪 today. Weather was perfect. DPR even commented on the run how awesome it was to be running in the mist. We are truly fortunate to have our AO where we do. We also welcomed FNGs Puck and Noble.

Moment of silence for the victims of 9/11 and the service personal who past in the line of duty.

YHC wanted to do something to mark the 20th anniversary of the attacks. The 456 yards bear crawl did just that. I think it will be repeated going forward.

YHC should have told stories of the people he knew lost on 9/11 but YHC feels like he honors them by remembering them in his memories.

Perfect Morning

10 strong 💪 at Carmel High this morning. I swear someone has turned up the humidity in the area to a level I have not ever felt here in these parts. Great to see GRS back to join us after his IronMan training but it will be short lived as he’s off again in a little to train for more. Stone Colds M was on the track exercising. We picked up on of her exercises and I think it will become a regulars exercise in YHC’s routine.

Old Rock

15 strong 💪 at Carmel High this morning. Gloom was nice. A little cool, over cast, perfect after the hot days that were hitting us hard during the week.

3 FNGs today including Never Mind who said he likes old rock (IE Music I grew up on.) I thought he was going to say bands from the early 60s when he said old rock. I guess time keeps on ticking into the future….

Seven pax turned out, including guest Sunshine from out of town.

Warmup: Sidestraddle Hops, Imperial Walkers, Hillbillies, Copperhead Squats, Bat Wings. Some mumble chatter and facial anguish was observed during Bat Wings.

The Thang: Interactive workout inspired by the movie Bandersnatch. Pax determine what the workout will be. Mosey to the beach. Two lines drawn in the sand. Repeated sprints from one line to the other. Fastest pax to the other line determines the exercise and reps. Each time you are the fastest pax, you increase your sprint handicap by one burpee. Exercises chosen by pax were Bat Wings, Monkee Humpers, Copperhead Squats, Lunges, Chilcutt Peter Parkers, 1 minute Plank, Merkens, Bear Crawls, Nipplers, Burpees, Mike Tysons, Sidestraddle Hops, Don Quixotes, and Groiners. This may not be a complete list, as Q’s memory relies upon an aging brain. Mosey back to flag.

I swung most of this one from the hip this morning so hopefully the below is accurate.

Line up on goal line. Crawl Bear to other goal line. Any pax that takes a knee and entire PAX does 5 burpees. First one to goal line calls it. No one wanted to do burpees and DPR crushed the Crawl Bears to call it.

Mosey to north end of school.

Jump over curbs x10, 10 LBCs (4 count) and reduce by 1 each time.

Mosey to middle of school

5 dips each row of amphitheater going down

going back up – 5 mike tysons & 5 decline merkins

Mosey back to north side of school

10 hops over curb & 10 rowers, reduce by 1

Mosey back to field, bear crawls again & 5 burpees for any knee for PAX. We did one set of burpees before DPR again crushed the crawl bears to call it.

6 mins left. 1 min of LBCs, 1 min of cherry pickers, a little rest and 3 minutes of plank to wrap it up.

On the tipping point

Challenge went out to the PAX to go to every beatdown in Feb. We have 3 still on track for that. We are hoping to grow F3 Monterey and I think we are on the tipping point. I have to give a presentation to a group which could easily double or triple our turnout. Trying hard to give it away and this could be the thing that reaches a lot more people.

100 Yard Dash then 100 SSHs, run back to start point to plank/wait for six (or catch up to 6)
75 yard dash then 75 mountain climbers
50 yard dash then 50 LBCs
25 yard dash then 25 Merkins,

Cat’s in the Cradle – Jump ‘over curb’ , and then hold al gore for: “ And the cat’s in the cradle and the silver spoon Little boy blue and the man in the moon “When you coming home, dad?” “I don’t know when” But we’ll get together then You know we’ll have a good time then”

Run to 25/ 50/ 25 /100 & back… 5 Groiner, high plank, low plank plank jack back to high plank

Bodies Hit the Floor – Merkin for each Number (1234123) and donkey kick for each body hit the floor

Run to 25, do 50 mtn climbers, run to 50… 75… 100 and that’s a wrap.

This was one of the hardest beatdowns I have Q’d in a while.

Another beautiful day on the Monterey peninsula. Blue skies, sun coming up over the valley. The morning started with 3 and ended with 4 as Sharkbait did a flying headlock on a guy working out alone on the field. Welcome FNG G.S.R. It seemed to be destiny.
